Rep. Allen West has been defeated, at least according to the Florida Department of State. The lead that Murphy holds a 50.4% lead over Rep. West’s 49.6% lead, which is larger than Florida’s automatic recount trigger of at most one-half a percentage point. Due to the lead being long enough, Patrick Murphy has been declared the initial winner in the race by Florida. However, this win doesn’t include any uncounted ballots. So, it is possible for Allen West to keep his seat if the uncounted ballots reach enough to overcome the lead that Patrick Murphy has built. Rep.
