White House Changes Countdown Clock

The White House has changed their “If Congress Doesn’t Act” countdown clock. The clock countdowns until payroll taxes go up for middle class Americans. The timeline now features a cross through Congress and shows “the house”, in all capitals, over it. The Senate featured a bill that featured a compromise by Democrats and Republicans. President Obama has embraced the plan. Speaker.gov also features a countdown clock, and it to has Congress crossed out. Instead of Congress, it features the Senate. The House of Representatives have passed a plan, largely across party lines. that extends the payroll tax cut. Speaker Boehner has criticized the Senate compromise because it only extends the tax cut for 2 months, Speaker Boehner says they need to go all the way, 1 year. Speaker Boehner also said that the bill will get defeated in the house.
