Now that Majority Leader Eric Cantor has been defeated, it remains to be seen what will occur in the district. Due to the unexpected result of the primary, there is scant polling of a Brat-Trammell match-up. However, the district is expected to stay in Republican hands. The 7th district has a Cook Political Rating of R+10, meaning that a generic Republican would have a ten point lead over a generic Republican. In a statement from Greg Walden, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Campaign, he said that he looked forward to working with Brat in Congress. For the Democrats, it remains to be seen whether or not they will invest in the race. TKNN has reached out to the DCCC for comment. We will update this post if there is a response.
