Gov. Rick Perry, who ran unsuccessfully for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, has announced he will not run for an unprecedented fourth term. However, he did leave the door open to another presidential run in 2016. But for now, Gov. Perry says he will focus on job creation for his final eighteen months and then he will “pass on the mantle of leadership.”
