Months Matter In GOP Race

February was hailed as the month that Mitt Romney would dominate, putting so far ahead that no one else could win. Instead of having a landslide, he was challenged in Michigan, and lost Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri. Now, Mitt did have some wins, he won in Nevada and Maine. Now, Mitt may be coming up to another favorable month, April. Now aside from Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, which Rick Santorum is favored to win, April can be very favorable to Mitt Romney. There are states voting like New York and Rhode Island. Also, many states are awarding their delegates winner-take-all, which raises the stakes.

Since April will be about preventing Mitt Romney from winning, May will be when Rick Santorum is most likely the target. States are voting in May include Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Arkansas. Now some these states are in the South, which is part of Newt Gingrich’s strategy. Texas, which votes May 29, could be the last stand for Newt Gingrich’s campaign. RNC rules show that he may need to win five states, and since Newt Gingrich has the backing of Gov. Rick Perry, a win is possible.
