Saturday Night Live took aim at CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin last night, especially their coverage of the crashed Germanwings plane. Cecily R Strong portrayed anchor Brooke Baldwin.
While we do not know who came up with the skit, SNL head writer and Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost tweeted this earlier in the week.

Eric Hall, who executive produces CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin, tweeted his thanks to the show for the “free plug.”
Dear @nbcsnl & @TheColinJost: thanks for watching. Free plug for 2-4p #CNN @BrookeBCNN — Eric Hall (@erichallcnn) April 5, 2015
Saturday Night Live, which counts MSNBC as a corporate sibling, regularly takes aim at cable news. Fox & Friends are regularly lampooned and MSNBC’s PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton is also frequently spoofed. CNN is often used to, although usually for cold opens related to news events. Recently, the show has been taking aim at CNN for their sometimes over-the-top breaking news coverage.
