CNN International anchor Richard Quest has tweeted that he is going to Cuba and will be anchoring a series of shows there. He will anchor his show, Quest Means Business, and tape an episode of Business Traveller from the island.
Several news personalities have been going to Cuba lately as the communist island works to reestablish ties with the United States. However, CNN has had a bureau and a studio in the country for many years. CNN’s founder, Ted Turner, was friendly with Fidel Castro and that relationship allowed CNN to open a bureau. In his book about the founding of CNN, Reese Schonfeld, the inaugural president of CNN, lamented about how little used the studio and bureau were. CNN has had a correspondent in the area for many years, most recently Patrick Oppmann.
