Former President Bill Clinton will swear in Bill deBlasio as the 109th Mayor of New York. Mayor-elect deBlasio worked for both Clintons. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also be in attendance. Secretary Clinton represented New York State in the Senate before being selected as Secretary of State in the Obama Administration. deBlasio was the campaign manager of Clinton’s 2000 Senate run. In addition, former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Bible will be used to swear in the deBlasio. It is on loan from the FDR Library.
deBlasio’s remarks from the press release, “I was honored to serve in President Clinton’s Administration and on Secretary Clinton’s campaign for U.S. Senate, and I am honored again that they will both join our celebration for all of New York City,” said Mayor-elect de Blasio. “Wednesday’s ceremony will be an event for every New Yorker from all five boroughs, and Chirlane and I couldn’t be more excited to have President Clinton and Secretary Clinton stand with us.”
