White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett confirmed on CNN’s New Day that President Obama would raise the minimum wage for federal workers through executive order. The order would go to federal workers and affect any new contracts with government contractors. Reports broke overnight that President Obama would do this and he is expected to formally announce the hike tonight during the State of the Union. Income inequality is expected to be a major part of the President’s address tonight and a minimum wage hike is part of the President’s 2014 Year of Action.
