Crist was the Governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011, and was an Independent candidate for the U.S. Senate seat now occupied by Marco Rubio. Governor Crist was a Republican during his governor tenure, but when he ran for the Senate, he initially ran as a Republican, but changed to be unaffiliated. Since then, he has been an Independent, and he has been talking about the future of the Republican Party. Governor Crist is not a fan of the Tea Party, or its Floridian darling, Sen. Marco Rubio. Today, Governor Crist did something that not many Republicans could imagine doing, he endorsed President Barack Obama. Yes, the former Republican governor of a toss-up state, has endorsed President Obama. Why, because he says Republicans are becoming too hostile, and President Obama exercises calm leadership, and sensible compromise. Recently, Republicans announced that Artur Davis was going to speak at their convention. Davis is a former Representative, and is known for seconding then-Senator Obama’s nomination in 2008.
