Dr. Ben Carson’s political status is currently shrouded in mystery as observers wonder whether Carson has ended his presidential campaign or not.
On Wednesday, Carson released a statement announcing he will not be attending the Republican debate on Thursday. The debate is being held in Carson’s hometown of Detroit and Carson will be in the city. Carson also said, “I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results.” It is this statement that has led people to believe Carson is dropping out of the race. Carson also goes on to thank his financial supporters.
Also adding to the confusion is another sentence where Carson writes, “However, this grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue.”
Carson will address his political future at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. He is expected to formally announce his withdrawal there.
The Carson campaign responded by saying further details would be available on Friday.
Carson was once a frontrunner, even beating Donald Trump nationally and in Iowa near the end of 2015. However, Carson struggled when the focus shifted to national security and there were questions regarding his biography.
