Former presidential candidate Rick Santorum has endorsed Ken Cuccinelli in the Virginia governor race next year. The state Attorney General will most likely face Democrat Terry McAuliffe. Current governor Bob McDonnell is term limited from serving two consecutive terms. After dropping out of the Republican nomination, Rick Santorum started Patriot Voices, a conservative PAC.

Rick Santorum’s statement:
“I have known Ken for years and consider him not only a strong leader for conservative principles but a dear friend who I have been proud to stand side-by-side with in the fights crucial to the future of our nation. As Virginia’s Attorney General, Ken has been a steadfast fighter to overturn ObamaCare and return healthcare decisions back to patients and doctors. Ken is committed to working to reform state government to improve quality and access in health care through greater competition and modernizing health care information technology.

“I first worked with Ken when he made his reputation as a committed conservative in the Virginia Senate, where he fought government overreach at every turn, worked to reduce taxes, dramatically cut spending, and was an unabashed defender of traditional values.

“Ken’s conservative leadership will serve the Commonwealth of Virginia well and will be an example for state executives across this country. From before the Revolution itself, the governorship of Virginia has been held by some of the greatest defenders of America’s foundational principles, and I am excited to support Ken’s candidacy to help him continue this tradition as Virginia’s next governor.”
