Lilly Ledbetter Act Attacked By Ryan and Rubio

Now, we move onto the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. It was the first law signed by President Obama, and it has largely been absent of political arguing. However, that changed today as both Vice Presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan said the law opens up to lawsuits. Romney surrogate Sen. Marco Rubio said the law “In fact, much of this legislation is, in many respects, nothing but an effort to help trial lawyers collect their fees and file lawsuits, which may not contribute at all whatsoever to increasing pay equity in the workplace… .” Sen. Rubio made the remarks on ABC’s This Week. The Romney campaign is actively pursuing the women vote, a group that President Obama has constantly led.
