Senator Stabenow Proposes Amendment Referencing Tom Cotton

capitalSenator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) has proposed an amendment that would prohibit funding for electronic communications equipment by members of Congress that would be used for contacting a foreign government.

This amendment is in reference to the 47 Republican Senators who sent a letter to Iranian leaders regarding the nuclear talks and Congress’s role in them. The amendment says it would prohibit funding for activities that would/could undermine “the role of the President as Head of State in international nuclear negotiations on behalf of the United States.”

This amendment is part of the Vote-a-Rama associated with the budget process. For this period of time, an assortment of amendments are offered up by Senators. Since they do not carry any legal weight, they are used more for show or political points.
