According to the Huffington Post, Ashley Judd is preparing to announce a run for Senate. Judd would be challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell when he’s up in 2014. An early entry into the race will most likely allow Judd to clear the field. One of the only other potential candidates would be Kentucky’s Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. Grimes, a Democrat, was elected in 2011 with 60% of the vote. Getting in now could help Judd avoid a costly, and politically dangerous primary. With McConnell and Judd, Kentucky could easily be the most expensive Senate race in the country.
