Ted Kennedy, Jr. Will Not Run for Senate

Sources are saying that Ted Kennedy, Jr., the son of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, will not run for the seat currently held by Sen. John Kerry. Ted Kennedy, Jr. is releasing a statement later today which will officially announce his decision. Friends are saying that he gave the decision careful consideration. The decision came from three points: he did not feel comfortable about moving to Massachusetts just to run, he did not want to uproot his family, and he hopes to run in Connecticut someday. Sources are saying that Connecticut politicians persuaded Kennedy to run within the state, even though Kennedy would have an immense advantage in Massachusetts. The Kennedy family holds massive name recognition in the state, and would has a large financial network to tap into. This week, Sen. John Kerry was nominated by President Obama to be his Secretary of State. It is now up to Governor Deval Patrick to name a successor who will most likely serve until the special election next year.
