Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist has now officially switched to be a Democrat. He filled out his form at the White House during a Christmas party. The President reportedly greeted the news with a fist bump. Charlie Crist was a Republican for most of his term, until he switched his affiliation to unaffiliated. Governor Crist made a run at an open Senate seat in 2010, but after realizing he would lose his primary to Marco Rubio, he switched affiliation. Crist ended up losing the general election to now-Senator Marco Rubio. Since then, he has openly criticized the Tea Party’s policies and their earlier takeover of the Republican Party. That made him an unique surrogate for the Obama campaign, which showed him as a disenfranchised Republican.
