Today’s unemployment numbers revealed that the unemployment rate has fallen to 8.1%. There was a net job gain of 151,000 jobs. Some estimated that 160,000 jobs would be created, and due to the poorer gains, the DOW fell. There has been 26 months of consecutive job gains. The strong job gains from late last year until early this year seems to have slowed, although it does not look like we could be heading back to job losses. President Obama said that the jobs report was encouraging, but much more work must be done. This jobs report could be used in the general election. Finally, first-time unemployment benefits have fallen.
