The Conservative Center of the Universe

Right now, CPAC is going on. CPAC, or the Conservative Political Action Conference, is one of the largest gatherings of conservatives in the nation. Among the speakers are Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, and Rand Paul. Sarah Palin will be the final speaker for the event. Also at CPAC, they will have a straw poll to endorse a candidate in the election. The straw poll could help or damage some campaigns as all candidates are trying to make the case they are the true conservative of the race. Newt Gingrich has been trying to paint Mitt Romney as a Massachusetts moderate, he even went so far as to say he was a Massachusetts liberal. Mitt Romney has denied both of these. The straw poll is coming as all candidates are seeming to struggle. Mitt Romney seemed to have February wrapped up, but Rick Santorum swept Tuesday night’s caucuses and primary. Rick Santorum has won more states than Mitt Romney. Ron Paul is struggling to get a win, and is now in last place in delegates. Finally, Newt Gingrich seems to be saying that he will not be competing heavily until Super Tuesday, even though after Florida he said he would compete in every state. Now, he seems to be trying to get the south to vote for him, hoping that will give him much-needed momentum.
