Gabrielle Giffords Resigning From Congress To Focus On Recovery

It has been over one year since the tragic shooting in Tucson, and Gabrielle Giffords, even though making incredible strides in recovery, is still recovering. So today she announced that she will resign from Congress this week. She announced the decision on her website today through a video. The congresswoman promised she will be back. Last year’s shooting and recovery led Giffords to miss most of the Congress’s year, but she did come back to vote on the debt ceiling compromise. Before the shooting she was rumored to be thinking about seeking the Democratic nomination for retiring Jon Kyl’s Senate seat. Giffords also has some influential friends in Washington, one of her’s best friends in Washington is Democratic National Committee chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
