Conservative commentator Kayleigh McEnany has left CNN to pursue another opportunity. She tweeted, “While I have enjoyed my time at CNN, I will be moving to a new role. Stay tuned next week!” McEnany quickly updated her Twitter bio and website to say “former CNN commentator.”
A CNN source said it was McEnany’s decision to leave and she asked to leave the cable news network. TKNN reached out to McEnany via email, but she did not respond to a request for comment.
McEnany became well-known to CNN viewers as one of their most frequent Trump boosters on the channel. McEnany has worked in cable news for several years, but CNN signed her to a deal for the 2016 election. After Donald Trump’s win, she stayed with the network, providing pro-Trump commentary on political events.
McEnany is currently writing a book about the populist movement and its role with the Trump and Bernie Sanders campaigns. While the departure was announced today, she has not appeared on CNN’s airwaves in roughly a month.
