Kevin Cirilli, who covered the Trump campaign for Bloomberg News, has been named the financial news outlet’s Chief Washington Correspondent.
The promotion marks a meteoric rise for Cirilli who graduated from Penn State in 2011 and covered the 2016 presidential election as his first. Cirilli has been covering politics since 2012 and joined Bloomberg in 2015. Prior to that, he wrote for The Hill and Politico.
Cirilli will report to Christine Baratta, a senior producer for Bloomberg.
The promotion comes as Bloomberg’s political coverage is in flux. The politically-based daily program, With All Due Respect, was cancelled last year and Mark Halperin recently resigned from the outlet.
