CNN Announces Nancy Pelosi Town Hall 1

fourth estate newDays after its health care town hall-style debate, CNN announced a town hall with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). The town hall will be held at 9 PM on Wednesday, October 4 and be moderated by New Day anchor Chris Cuomo.

As opposed to a recent town hall with Speaker Paul Ryan when his town hall was held in his home district and featured his constituents, Pelosi’s town hall will be in Washington, D.C. Ryan’s town hall was an anomaly, however. A CNN spokesperson did not respond to a request for more information as to where the questioners will be from or how they will be found.

CNN says that among the topics Pelosi will discuss are the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, and her recent deal on the government debt ceiling and hurricane spending with President Donald Trump.

After a bit of a slowdown, it seems like CNN’s town hall efforts have been reenergized. CNN held a health care reform town hall with four senators on Monday, a town hall two days later on patriotism and President Trump’s NFL comments, and now this with Leader Pelosi. Part of the rationale is that town halls are incredibly flexible and can be put in regardless of news cycle intensity. The town halls have also been reliable for relatively strong ratings.
