Clinton Plans to Spend Election Night at Javits Center in Manhattan

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has alerted top officials on Capitol Hill that her election night party will be held at the Javits Center in West Manhattan. The Javits Center is made predominately of glass, and Clinton’s choice of the venue is seen by many as deeply symbolic. Clinton has preached for years of her intent to “break the glass ceiling,” and as the Javits Center possesses a glass ceiling many see the choice as intentional. Details about the event will be released by the Clinton campaign within the following week.

Breaking the glass ceiling has been a recurring element of Clinton’s presidential campaigns. While suspending her 2008 bid, Clinton said, “Although we were not able to shatter that highest and hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you it has 18 million cracks in it.” Then during the 2016 Democratic National Convention, pictures of all the Presidents appeared on the scream before shattering like glass, revealing Secretary Clinton’s video feed.

There is also an additional detail at play as her rival, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, originally wanted to take part in the building. He wrote in The Art of the Deal that he tried to get involved in the project, but the city and state governments decided to run the project. Trump then criticized many of the decisions.
