CNN Dominates New Years Eve

Pearls may have been clutched over CNN's drinking (on New Year's Eve! the horror!), but the duo of AC² was a hit with the cable news viewers. This was the second year with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen along with appearances by CNN correspondents around North America (notably Richard Quest in Times Square and Randi Kaye in St. Bart's), Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin (per tradition) in New Orleans, and celebrity appearances. Cooper and Cohen hosted from 8-approx. 12:30 and then Baldwin and Lemon hosted from 12:30-1. Fox News had a slightly different crew this year with Carley Shimkus and Griff Jenkins hosting from 8-10 and then Kennedy and Pete Hegseth hosting from 10-12:30.

CNN also boasted about having the younger average age compared to Fox News, 52 vs. 64.

CNN and Fox News were both down compared to last year's numbers, but that was also shared by their broadcast counterparts. Last year's broadcast (Cohen's first) set the record for CNN's New Years Eve broadcast and this was CNN's second highest.

MSNBC does not do a New Years Eve program.
