Cable News Looks to Take Advantage of ABC’s Comey Interview

Tonight ABC News will present its taped interview with former FBI Director James Comey as the kick-off to his book tour. The memoir and interview have already spurred buzz, sales (as of writing, it is the top selling book on Amazon), and tweets from President Donald Trump. However, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are all looking to capitalize on the ABC interview with their own special programming.

MSNBC and Fox News will both have programming before the interview while CNN will be live following the interview.

At 9 PM, MSNBC will present a new episode of their Headliners docuseries focusing on Comey. The episode, narrated by Chris Matthews, will look at the former FBI Director’s life and career.

Fox News at 9 PM is taking a slightly different tack with a special episode of The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton. The special has been billed as The Trial of James Comey. Among the experts involved are retired Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz (a Democrat who is one of the President’s most frequent defenders on cable news), The Five co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle (a former prosecutor), and Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett (who has been outspoken in dismissing the Mueller and Comey investigations of Trump as corrupt).

On CNN, Jim Sciutto and Pamela Brown will host a CNN Special Report: Comey Speaks Out. The special will feature post-interview analysis and be live for two hours.
