Sean Hannity Comes out Swinging for New Timeslot’s First Week

fourth estate newWhen Fox News announced that Sean Hannity would be moving back to the 9 PM timeslot, many noticed that this would be pitting Hannity, one of the, if not the, highest-rated hosts on the network against MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who regularly has the highest-rated program in cable news in total viewers. Fox News is hoping for Hannity’s dominance to continue on his new timeslot and the host has a series of exclusive interviews this week.

Last night, Sean Hannity had on Steve Bannon, the former chief strategist for President Donald Trump who is now back as executive chairman of Breitbart News. While Bannon notoriously hid from the public view during his White House tenure, he has been increasingly stepping out in the public view more recently.

Tonight’s interview will also raise some eyebrows as Hannity will be interviewing former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. O’Reilly is promoting his book, Killing England: The Brutal Struggle for American Independence, and this will be his first appearance on Fox News since he was dismissed from the network over sexual harassment allegations in April. O’Reilly had the top show in cable news before he was let go, but his rivalry with Hannity was well documented.

On Wednesday, Speaker Paul Ryan will appear on Hannity. The Speaker has been promoting the issue of tax reform and Congress is expected to more fully focus on the matter after the Senate’s reconciliation deadline for repealing the Affordable Care Act passes.

Finally on Thursday Hannity will speak with talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh, who briefly hosted a television show in the 1990s, rarely makes television appearances.
