CNN Announces Town Hall with Kamala Harris

On Monday morning, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) announced her 2020 presidential run. Hours later, CNN announced that they would host a town hall with the newly-minted presidential candidate.

The town hall will be moderated by Jake Tapper and take place in Iowa Monday at 10 PM ET.

CNN has not yet announced town halls with any of the other Democratic presidential candidates– declared candidates like Richard Ojeda, Andrew Yang, Julián Castro, or John Delaney, or those who have announced exploratory committees like Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand. Free media exposure like CNN is giving to Harris is an immensely valuable as the candidates seek to boost their name recognition (a costly, but important endeavor) and CNN could open itself up to allegations of favoritism by not extending this offer to other significant candidates.
