Megyn Kelly Moving to NBC News

fourth-estate-newMegyn Kelly announced on Tuesday that she will be leaving Fox News and joining NBC News. Kelly announced the news on her Facebook page.

“While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge.”

“I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters.”

The New York Times’s Jim Rutenberg was the first to report the news.

As part of her move, Kelly will host a weekly daytime show as well as a Sunday newsmagazine. She will also contribute to the news division’s political and breaking news divisions. Daytime television is not new to Kelly as she hosted a daytime program for Fox News for several years before moving to primetime.

Kelly will continue hosting The Kelly File until Friday.

Rupert Murdoch, the executive chairman of parent company 21st Century Fox, said in a statement, “We thank Megyn Kelly for her twelve years of contributions to Fox News.”

“We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family all the best.”

“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career,” NBC Universal News Group chair Andrew Lack said in a statement. “She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”
