CNN and Newseum Partner for Exhibit

fourth estate newCNN Politics has partnered with the Newseum for an interactive exhibit on the 2016 presidential election. The exhibit, CNN Politics Campaign 2016: Like, Share, Elect, will begin on April 15, 2016, and continue until January 22, 2017.

The exhibit will combine social media elements with coverage of the presidential election. Two of CNN’s digital properties, the Pivit Prediction Market and Matchmaker, will be included in the exhibit. The Prediction Market allows users to guess whether the odds of certain events, such as election results, will go up or down. Matchmaker allows the user to find the presidential candidate that most aligns with his or herself. CNN’s infamous Magic Wall will also be included.

The Zignal Command Center will show real-time trending news events. Users will be able to break the data down into candidates and news analysis, such as reaction on social media. Facebook and Instagram are also being included. As part of a larger project with Facebook, users can record their questions to candidates. CNN has been doing this across the country with Facebook. The Instagram exhibit will allow people to view photos from the campaign trail.

“Today, there is great excitement, anxiety and confusion — often all at the same time — about the technological disruption of the media, what it means for an informed citizenry, and how these new tools affect presidential elections,”  said Jeffery Herbst, CEO and President of the Newseum in a statement.
