On Monday, Lester Holt anchored his first NBC Nightly News as the permanent, weekday anchor of the program. NBC announced last week that Holt would be permanent anchor while former anchor Brian Williams will move to MSNBC as breaking news anchor when his suspension ends in August.
TKNN has video of the intro, which now features Lester Holt’s name in the graphics. While Holt was anchoring during Brian Williams’s suspension, Williams’s name was removed and the Nightly News logo was shown alone.
At the close of the broadcast, Holt thanked the viewers for their patience during the ordeal. He said, “Your loyalty and viewership during a difficult time has been appreciated by all of us on this program.” Then, Holt thanked Williams for his kind public words.
