Texas Elected Official Calls Clinton C-Word in Tweet

road-to-the-white-houseTexas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller (R-TX) tweeted a misogynist epithet in place of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s name on Tuesday before deleting the tweet.  The tweet read, “PENNSYLVANIA: NEW AUTO ALLIANCE POLL TRUMP 44 C*** 43 Go Trump Go!”

The tweet seems to be in reference to a three day rolling poll from the Auto Alliance and Entertainment Software Association.

The tweet was then deleted and the account tweeted out an explanation, “@MillerForTexas HAS BEEN HACKED.The disgusting re-tweet has been removed and we have changed all account passwords. Be advised.” However, that tweet was quickly deleted and an alternative explanation was put out, “The campaign was retweeting information on Twitter today and inadvertently retweeted a tweet that they were not aware contained a derogatory term. The tweet was taken down as soon as possible. Commissioner Miller finds the term vulgar and offensive and apologizes to anyone who may have seen it.”

While the campaign said it was retweeted, it was in fact not. The content, however, seems to have been reposted from @TheRickyVaughn, an alt-right Twitter account that backs Trump. Miller’s campaign added the “Go Trump Go!” to the end of the tweet.

Miller is an ardent supporter of Trump and serves on Trump’s Agricultural Advisory Committee. He regularly tweets pro-Trump content and mentions positive polling for Trump.

The reaction in Texas was swift against Miller. Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) told the Texas Tribune, “The language is reprehensible and is an embarrassment.”

“No true Texas gentleman would ever talk this way.”
