Mike Huckabee Ends Fox News Show, Eyes 2016

road-to-the-white-house-2016Chris Arlens of TVNewser broke the news today that Mike Huckabee will be leaving Fox News and his weekend show as the former governor looks at a 2016 presidential run. Then, Mike Huckabee announced on Fox News earlier today that tonight’s episode of Huckabee will be the last. Huckabee also sent an email to supporters, alerting them of the decision and a similar, smaller statement was also posted on his website.

The 2008 Republican presidential contender has weighed running for President in 2016 and has a new book coming out soon. Huckabee said of his relationship with Fox News, “I won’t make a decision about running until late in the spring of 2015, but the continued chatter has put Fox News into a position that is not fair to them.” In November of 2014, Fox News said they were taking a “serious look” at Huckabee’s recent political activity and his potential 2016 candidacy.

Fox News has also cut ties with Dr. Ben Carson as he has also looked at running for President in 2016.

In March of 2011, Fox News announced they were suspended Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as contributors as the two looked at a 2012 presidential run. Those two ended up running for President. Since then, Gingrich has joined CNN as a contributor and briefly hosted a revival of Crossfire.
