Newark Mayor Cory Booker has won the Democratic primary and will move onto the special election taking place in October. With about 80% of the vote in, Mayor Booker had 60% of the vote. Following was Frank Pallone, Rush Holt, and Sheila Oliver. Mayor Booker was widely expected to win and the main question among analysts was by how much he would win. Frank Pallone, however, had the endorsement of the Lautenberg family. The special election was brought on by the death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

Steve Lonegan won the Republican primary, Alieta Eck. Lonegan has over 80% of the vote. Lonegan was a former mayor.
