Poppy Harlow has been the only permanent anchor of CNN Newsroom at 9 AM ET since John Berman departed to co-host New Day, but that time will be coming to an end. CNN head Jeff Zucker announced on Tuesday that Jim Sciutto will join the program as co-host.
While Harlow has anchored alone most days, CNN has indicated that it preferred a co-anchor team. Brianna Keilar co-anchored for a period of time earlier this year.
Sciutto currently serves as the chief national security correspondent for CNN and will continue in this role, but will re-locate to New York to host the show.
Sciutto’s first show will be Monday, September 17.
