Dylan Byers announced today that he will be joining NBC News & MSNBC as their senior media reporter.
The move is a return to the beat for Byers, who served as a media reporter for Politico and, briefly, CNN before becoming a innovation/West Coast reporter for CNN. In this capacity, Byers was part of a team that investigated Russian ads on Facebook and also authored a daily newsletter, Pacific, by himself.
Byers is currently on vacation (it was announced two days ago), but announced the move via Twitter. He thanked his bosses at CNN and also promised that there would be a newsletter when he joins NBC.
NBC has not officially announced the hire and CNN did not respond to an inquiry about the future of the Pacific newsletter.
