President Trump to Hold Afghanistan Address

The White House announced Sunday that President Donald Trump will address the nation regarding his new Afghanistan policy. The address will be held at 9:00 PM ET.

CNN’s town hall with Speaker Paul Ryan was originally scheduled to be held at the same time period. However, the network has pushed the start time back now to 9:30.

CNN has been actively promoting its town hall and Trump is known to be an active watcher of CNN. This has caused some to believe that Trump scheduled his address to conflict with CNN.

Presidential addresses typically deliver larger audiences for news networks. However, CNN will have to balance the President’s address and its viewers with the already scheduled town hall. Cable news networks typically have pre- and post-address coverage, but a CNN spokesperson did not answer TKNN’s inquiry about how this would affect their post-address coverage.
