Hours after he left the Trump Administration where he had been serving as chief strategist, Steve Bannon returned to Breitbart News as executive editor. The news organization announced the arrival Friday evening and Bannon took part in the evening editorial call.

Bannon also gave an interview to The Weekly Standard, a conservative magazine, and said of his plans, “I built a f***ing machine at Breitbart. And now I’m about to go back, knowing what I know, and we’re about to rev that machine up.”

“And rev it up we will do.”

Breitbart took glee in announcing Bannon’s return. An article, that reads like a press release, led their homepage Friday evening with the all-caps headline of “Stephen K. Bannon Returns Home to Breitbart News.” The frontpage also called him a “populist hero.”

Headlines for articles below made reference to #War (which a Breitbart editor had tweeted in all-caps following Bannon’s departure) and called Bannon a “populist icon.”

Bannon had previously been the executive editor of Breitbart News prior to him joining the Trump campaign. It was roughly one year ago that he left Breitbart for the campaign.
