Tom Hanks Gifts Press Corps a Coffee Maker

Actor Tom Hanks gifted a coffee maker to the White House press corps on Thursday. The gift is Hanks’s third. He also gave coffee makers in 2004 and 2010.

The coffee maker was also accompanied by a note which read, “Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way.”

“Especially for the Truth.”

There was also a cartoon of American soldiers with the caption, “Fresh, spirited American troops, flushed with victory, are bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle-weary prisoners.”

The coffee comes as the White House press corps has moved into an increasingly combative role with the White House press corp. CNN and the New York Times were both excluded from a press gaggle with Press Secretary Sean Spicer, but the White House said it was due to space constraints not in reaction to hardhitting stories.
