CNNMoney Expands Internationally



CNNMoney, CNN’s financial news operation, is expanding internationally with new hiring and an expanded television footprint.CNNMoney will now expand into Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The London, Dubai, New Delhi, and Hong Kong bureaus will all see hiring increases. CNNMoney’s expansion will tie into the international reach of CNN International which is seen in over 200 countries.

CNN International’s financial programming will be rebranded to include CNNMoney branding. The Business View with Nina dos Santos will now be CNNMoney View with Nina dos Santos and World Business Today with Maggie Lake will now be CNNMoney with Maggie Lake. CNNI’s Quest Means Business, anchored by Richard Quest,  will keep its name. Quest, however, will now be editor-at-large of CNNMoney and he will author the CNNMoney Presents: Quest Means Business newsletter. The newsletter will be published daily when the Asian markets open.

CNN correspondent Samuel Burke will join CNNMoney to cover technology.

SVP and general manager of CNN International Mike McCarthy said in a statement, “By uniting our portfolio of U.S. and international business reporting under the CNNMoney brand, we now offer an even more compelling product to globally-minded consumers hungry for a smart, accessible business and financial news experience – everywhere in the world.”

CNNMoney launched in its current form last year. The organization was a partnership between CNN and then sister magazines, Fortune and Money. Fortune and Money, as part of the Time Warner’s magazine group, were spun off and CNN assumed full control of the outlet.
