CNN’s Paul Steinhauser Leaving CNN

IMG_0109.JPGIn this morning’s Playbook, Politico’s Mike Allen is reporting that CNN’s Political Editor Paul Steinhauser is leaving the company after 28 years. Steinhauser is going to a media start-up in New Hampshire called NH1 and he begins next month. According to a press release from NH1, Steinhauser will serve as Political Director and as a news anchor. While at CNN, Steinhauser often did live reports from the DC newsroom, he also contributed to CNN’s website. Sam Feist, CNN’s DC bureau chief, had this statement in Playbook, “Paul and I have talked for many years of his love for all things New Hampshire, not the least of which includes his New Hampshire-native bride. … Paul has done it all in his 28 years at CNN: PA, AP, line-producer, show EP, deputy political director, and now political editor. … We’ll miss his good humor and his political insight.”

With this news, it may be best to relive Steinhauser’s infamous moment on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as the Leno showed clips of Steinhauser getting on the phone as soon as he appeared in the background on-air.
